Magdalena – Don't look now, but the Old Timers are headed for Magdalena again. They're comin' on horseback, in mule trains and wagons, by stage coach, on foot and in pickups, SUVs, campers and motorhomes too. Soon enough they'll be ridin' into town on their Harleys, playin' cards, bustin' up saloons and tarrin' n' featherin' tourists for fun.
Of course, we're kiddin about the tar and feathers part. They like tourists up in Magdalena and want 'em to come back! So, they don't allow no one to bother tourists unless they're causin' trouble or stealin' horses. Several years ago the town council decided to let the law and order commitee take care of disorderly old timers and horse stealin visitors. Since then they've had no trouble at all. Fancy that!
Now that we've got your attention -- and assuming you're not a horsethief, a gun-slinger or a riverboat gambler -- you'll probably be glad to hear history will soon mingle once again with modern day fun, music, art and contests during the annual Magdalena Old Timers’ Reunion which is set for July 7-9 at various locations around Magdalena.

The Old Timers’ parade is one of the favorites of this event
The Old Timers’ parade is one of the favorites of this event held for more than 30 years and always the weekend after the 4th of July. A mini-cattle drive, rodeos, fiddlers contest, Spanish Village, Indian Village, western dance and song, and lots of good food, art and family fun make this a great weekend event up in the cooler mountain air of Magdalena.
Be sure to stop by Peppers Gallery and the Magdalena Arts Gallery and don’t forget the London Frontier Theatre’s production, Enchantment!.
