Alto – Get away from the heat of the summer to the cool mountains for some spectacular mountain views and fine art in the Alto Artists’ Studio Tour. This year’s tour is scheduled for Aug. 5 and 6 from 10 am to 5 pm. Alto is located 5 miles north of Ruidoso on Hwy 48.
Each stop on the tour will feature multiple artists who work in different media. Art on exhibit and for sale will include paintings in watercolor, oil, acrylic and pastel; wood, bronze and gourd sculptures; furniture, tile, jewelry, masks and art and character dolls.

For those who do not wish to drive, a shuttle service will be available. Reservations are required; please call 505-336-1683 for details. Brochures and maps detailing the tour and the studios are available at the Ruidoso valley Chamber of Commerce and various sponsor locations.
The artists invite you to visit them this August where the air and incentives are fresh and exhilarating and the hospitality incomparable. Tour the tall pines and golden mesas of the Capitan and Sacramento Mountains and discover your own treasure amid the studios of Alto.
There's something unique and special about the high mountains around Ruidoso. Alto is proof positive of that. We'll leave it to you to decide whether it's the high mountains that attract the best and brightest artists or whether there's something about those mountains that evokes superhuman creativity and skills in the folk who live there. Or is there some other phenomena that explains the high concentration of creative and talented folks who call Alto home?
All we know is there's some truly fine art being created in the Alto area. That much is clear. Don't take our word for it. Go enjoy the Alto Artists tour and see for yourself what we mean.
