Spoke-N-Word Cycles and Manzanares Coffee (www.spoke-n-word-cycles.com (http://www.spoke-n-word-cycles.com/)) are the first among what may soon become an entirely new group of advertisers for Steppin Out. Perhaps one could call them "New Era businesses"... or maybe just "new businesses" will do. But the point is their view of the types of folks who might be their customers is much broader than similar businesses might have had in the past. In the Spoke-n-Word case, their market includes the traditional customers who essentially bicycle for fun or exercise as well as those who look seriously on bicycling as a viable alternate transportation choice in a town like Socorro where the weather is good 330 days a year and 90% of the ground in town is flat-as-a-pancake. In a day where both sets of choices are valid and viable, Spoke-N-Word has managed to carve out a survivable market niche for themselves by serving the interests and needs of both groups of customers.
The same can essentially be said for the owner's latest business venture, Manzanares Coffee. For those who want a great cup of coffee and a snack of some sort and a quiet place to sit, converse, surf the net or study, where could you possibly expect to find a better place for that than in Socorro's only dedicated coffee shop? Both the location and the ambiance work well for peace and quiet and business conversations... It's close to the historic plaza -- and directly across the street from the Chamber of Commerce office where lots of folks may have a need to stop for a break during the day. Plus it's also close enough to where students, faculty and "townies" live to be inviting to those from Tech and from the rest of the Socorro community as well.
Please drop in at Manzanares Coffee and thank them for becoming supporters of Steppin' Out. And be sure to enjoy a great cup of coffee or buy a part for your bike while you're there too.
