Socorro Leather Company recently joined Steppin' Out's family of advertisers. Located in Socorro on the west side of California street right next to the popular El Camino diner and just north of Ace Hardware, Socorro Leather offers a nice selection of leather-crafting supplies, hats, jackets, sportswear, purses, belts, buckles and suspenders for cowboys, sportsmen, horse lovers, bikers and even military buffs. In fact, their new shop is awash with a long list of handy accessories for almost everyone who wears western wear or leather -- or clothing of any sort, for that matter.

The truth is even nudists would probably find a use for one of Socorro Leather's purses, pouches or back packs. After all, the clothing-optional crowd obviously needs someplace to carry all the money they save on clothes, right? ;) But if you're a member of the 'altogether crowd', my advice is to at least wear a bath robe when you drop in at Socorro Leather to shop. After all, local law officers are a common sight at El Camino... and they might take a dim view of you showing up to shop "au naturale"!

As a portly fellow, I was delighted to find several pair of extra sturdy and wide suspenders at Socorro Leather and immediately bought 3 sets. Since buying them I've had several folks stop me on the street and compliment me on them and ask where I got them. Last time anyone did that, I was 7 years old and had dressed as a fairy princess for Halloween. Yes, the suspenders were a bit more than the cheap ones they sell at Walmart. But I figure these things will last me the rest of my life. So what's a few extra bucks if it means I'll never need to worry about my suspenders suddenly giving way and causing me to lose my trousers in the middle of Socorro Plaza? Meanwhile, my beloved Wife / Owner had also discovered their purses and was oohing and ahhing over them as well.

They also have a great selection of patches, caps and hats. I was utterly amazed to realize they even had several hats that actually FIT my larger than 7-3/4 head. Even the US army couldn't manage that trick! The army's solution was to shrink my head instead.

So, whether you're from Socorro or just traveling through, why not drop in and visit Socorro Leather and tell them you heard about them in Steppin' Out? I'm certain they'll be glad to know that.

While you're there, please buy something and thank them for their support of the arts in Socorro too. After all, if they advertise here, that's exactly what they're doing!
