Does the idea of cooking with sunflowers peak your interest? Why not compete in the Sunflower Recipe Contest and Cook Off in Mountainair? There will be two categories each —sweet and savory—for adults and youth (under 18). Entrants will be asked to prepare two samples for each entry: one for the judges and one for display on Sunflower Folk Art Day in Mountainair (August 26).
Recipes will be judged on taste (50%), presentation (25%) and use of sunflower ingredients (25%). Any part of the sunflower may be used, such as fresh or dried seed, oil or flour. First, second and third prize will be awarded in each category with one grand prize. Deadline for submission is noon, Friday, August 25th. Recipes, and samples should be hand-delivered with entry forms to 204 N. Limit Ave., Mountainair (corner of Limit and Main).
Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the Sunflower Folk Art Day in Mountainair at noon, Saturday, August 26 at the Dr. Saul Community Center.
