During our time in Capitan during the Art Loop Tour one stop we thoroughly enjoyed was our visit to the workshop, studio and showroom of Circle D Metal Art at the home of Debbie and Dolton Roberts. Our visit to their studio was a special pleasure because we happen to already own a stunning piece of their custom metal art titled Cree Meadows. That beautiful artwork now hangs at the entrance to our historic old adobe in Socorro where we, our guests and our family can see and enjoy it each time we enter or leave our humble abode.
Dolton and Debbie are an amazingly talented artistic duo. Together they create lovely art made from metal that is colored as beautifully as if it had been hand-painted by Michaelangelo or Rembrandt. Debbie creates remarkably detailed artistic images and Dolton carves those images out of solid steel and colors them with a firey torch with a level of skill that only a man who has worked with torches and hot metal for over 30 years could possibly achieve. The end products of their artistic talents and efforts are beautiful pieces of solid steel art that are likely to last for centuries and practically take your breath away when you see them.
Dolton and Debbie were gracious and welcoming to us. We spent a delightful half-hour talking with them about their work. Indeed, they seemed willing to spend as much time as we could afford to answer our questions and discuss their unique and beautiful art.
But in the end, time was against us. We had many studios to see and were feeling the pressure of a long list of places still to visit. So we bid them farewell and thanked them for creating the beautiful art that we now own and enjoy.
Thank you, Dolton, and Debbie for opening your private spaces to us and to all the others who visited you that weekend. Thanks especially for being willing to talk with us about your work and for answering our questions. It was a pleasure to meet and get to know you!
