Tucked away on a private side street near Capitan we found the private framing and art studio of painter Lorene Caywood. As it turns out, Lorene is an artist with an interesting twist. She not only creates and frames her own art. She also provides low-cost frames and framing services to other Lincoln County artists as well. To our pleasure and delight, the walls of Lorene's large studio and workshop were filled with stunning examples of her work... both as a framer and painter.
Lorene's framing of art -- whether it's her own art or that of others -- reflects her unique artistic tastes and styles. For example, you'll find her framing jobs often include elaborately cut mats in multiple colors that both compliment and enhance the overall effect of the art they highlight.
Lorene seems to specialize in creating southwestern art which includes landscapes and still life paintings with her own unique twists. For example, she creates miniature still lifes involving buildings and other art objects that are later framed in a small window alongside the larger piece of art that depicts the scene. We enjoyed our visit to Lorene's studio and can certainly recommend her work to others. Indeed several local artists made it clear they believe Lorene does the best framing work in Lincoln County at very reasonable costs.
On that basis alone, we can highly recommend a visit to her studio if you're ever in the need for either quality framing work or nicely done southewstern art.
