Sadly, even here in New Mexico, there still aren't many times or places where one can find talented Native Artists displaying their creative works side-by-side with their non-native brothers and sisters. It has been our observation that there tends to be an ethnic rivalry that seperates these two groups of exceptional artists into shows of their own.
That's just one of the things that makes the Route 66 Society's Thanksgiving weekend Cavalcade of Arts Show such a unique and unusual arts event. It speaks well for the uniting spirit of the holiday season and the Rt 66 Society deserves kudos for having chosen the popular and beautiful Isleta Pueblo Casino as the site for their holiday season show which is sure to be one of the few art shows this fall to feature Native and non-native Artists and Artisans side-by-side in the same art venue.
For that reason and others -- including its occurence on Thanksgiving Day weekend -- the Cavalcade of Art is bound to be a special show. Occuring as it does at one of the regions finest and most popular casinos, the show's location should help give everyone who attends lots to do.
So, now you know exactly what you and the family can do on Thanksgiving weekend. Just jump in the car and drive down to Isleta Casino to enjoy one amazing art show. Grandpa can play the slots if he wants while everyone else enjoys the art. :p That way, the whole family will enjoy the trip and it's a perfect chance to buy beautiful New Mexican art as gifts for loved-ones this holiday season.
Tell them you heard about the show in Steppin' Out, please. Have fun, happy holidays, and we hope grandpa wins enough to pay for all the art you buy! :D
