One thing that's often true about artists is they commonly occur in pairs -- a husband and wife team who are partners in life and in their artistic pursuits as well. This is certainly true of Scott and Susan Goewey who seem to enjoy creating and displaying their art together as much as they enjoy sharing other parts of their lives. Thus, while Scott was the featured artist during the Alto Artist Tour, we were not surprised to find his prodigiously creative wife and partner sharing his space with him. We've reviewed Scott and Susan's work before and have always been extremely impressed with each artist's creative abilities.

Scott is a remarkable potter who seems to enjoy exploring every nook and cranny of his medium in creating new pottery effects and relishing it's many possibilities. His amazing work has been displayed in Faenza Italy and Nagoya, Japan plus his works are featured in New York's Everson Museum of Art, the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Lannan Museum and in many private and corporate collections too. Once you see his work first hand, you’ll understand why. During the Alto Artists Tour, Scott displayed several interesting new pieces which combined white and red clay to create beautiful vases bearing an amazing resemblance to blooming flowers -- the petals of each flower formed the panels of a blooming vase and the vase/flower was in the process of opening just as we arrived to enjoy the effect. We watched closely half-expecting a pottery bee to fly out of one of those pottery flowers laden with nectar; but in that we were disappointed. We assume the nectar in Scott's flowers was so sweet the bees failed to fly on schedule! As always, Scott displayed an impressive array of other pottery creations as well. His remarkable art works are something to truly enjoy and cherish.

Meanwhile Susan used a small corner of Scott's space to display several of her lovely woven wall hangings -- which must be seen and enjoyed in person to be appreciated. She also had three or four of her lovely paintings hanging behind them and a small display of her clay jewelry nearby. Susan's work is as varied as it is beautiful and we always enjoy her art. Seeing them together at this show was a doubly-delicious treat. They are a talented and friendly artistic couple who are best enjoyed in one another's company!
