Gary Henry is a retired rancher and schoolteacher and was selected as first alternate for Texas Artist a few years ago. After retiring to Alto a while back, he helped form “Mountaintop Turners” and has since created more than 1,500 wooden toys for Santa’s Helpers. His early works were in metal. Later he graduated to sculpting and creating bronze castings. You’ll find those works are especially beautiful and detailed.
Gary also continues to work in wood lovingly transforming seemingly useless parts of trees into beautiful pieces of art. The unique candleholders and life-like fish-on-a hook-images reflected among his works only partly reflect the range of his beautiful wood creations. Gary’s remarkable art works must be seen to be fully appreciated. To arrange a private viewing of his art, he can be contacted at gahenry@valornet.com or by calling 505-336-2696.
