Lisa Maue is a ceramics artist and painter who combines her two talents to create some very lovely and unique ceramic pieces. She begins with lumps of clay that are rolled and flattened and cut into squares.
After her square clay "tortilla's" dry, Lisa hand paints them with interesting New Mexican scenes and images. Later she glazes and fires the whole creation to produce beautiful hand-painted ceramic tiles which are used singley or in groups to create lovely hot pads, wall art, trays and such. It produces a very nice effect overall and Lisa is quite good at it. In essence, her creations make lovely useable art that has both an artistic and a utilitarian purpose.
