Ray Shaw is a retired band director who arranges his unique art works with a focus on simplicity in form, shape and color. Ray is a highly creative wood artisan who especially enjoys using his modern tools to take natural aspen logs and turn them into colorful primitive looking totem-like figures.
Although Ray laughingly points out that his large and very attractive works are not modeled after anything he’s ever seen before, his art does definitely invoke a sense of primitive indigenous art from around the world. Ray’s art is unique, appealing, colorful and impressive! At least one of his pieces reminded this reviewer of that tall, thin, boring and bug-eyed teacher who tried to teach me history in 7th grade. Here’s to old Joe Cook wherever he may be.
