The best barbeque in the state will be decided during the 2007 New Mexico Barbeque State Championships in a Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned event. Barbequing teams from around the nation are expected to join local chefs for the weekend. Barbeque will be available for sale to the public as well, along with a host of other vendors and activities.
The fun begins on Friday at noon and continues until 9 pm; activities on Saturday run from 10 am to 6 pm.
Ninety KCBS-certified judges will judge the barbeque entries in four categories including a division for youth. And it’s not just barbeque but salsas, side dishes and other foods.
The main contest is Saturday with awards announced Saturday evening
General admission is free, with two days of entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, carnival rides, a Beer Garden, and delicious barbeque for purchase.
