Mapping the Rio Photo Exhibit
From the mouths of children come words and images of wisdom...
Socorro – NM Tech’s Macey Center will feature El Rio Grande during a special photography show in February. “Mapping the Rio,” a photography exhibit will hang in the Macey Center upstair gallery from Feb. 1-28.<img src=/images/mapping_slides2.gif align=right>
The River Photos’ Project, an outgrowth of our Rio Grande Watershed Curriculum, brings to life our great river and our children’s voices in a grand tribute reflecting how important the river is.
The exhibit will also feature 1000 origami cranes created one of our our fourth grade classes in honor of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. The cranes will be suspended from the ceiling at various levels, all colors, symbols for healing worldwide.
A sunset reception is slated for Friday, Feb. 2 at Macey Center on the campus of NM Tech.
“We extend a special thank you to Starbucks for their generous grant toward this,” says Alexis Rykken, education director of the Friends of the Bosque del Apache NWR. For more information, call Alexis at 505-838-2110 or Macey Center, 505-835-5342.
