Mount Taylor Quilters share love of art through acts of kindness
while promoting the contributions of women to society
Grants, NM – The Cibola Arts Council’s Double 6 Gallery will feature the works of the Mount Taylor Quilt Guild in a special show at the gallery from May 12 through June.
Come celebrate the opening on Saturday, May 12 from 1-5 pm with an artists’ reception.
The opening is timed to coincide with Mother’s Day (May 14) emphasizing the significant contributions of women who foster the youth of the world and the creativity in themselves and others.
The Mount Taylor Quilt Guild is a lively group of enthusists who come together to share the fiber arts forms that have been passed down through generations. A wide range of styles, fabrics, equipment and methods have evolved and quilt-ing now is a popular hobby.
The Mt. Taylor Quilt Guild began in 2001 with Cynthia Fuelling with the help of the Cibola Arts Council. The group meetings regularly and has engaged in several benefit projects including sending themed lap quilts to service people in Iraq and to local Good Samaritan residents and sending quilts to a children’s home in Texas. The group encourages individual growth of skills exploring old and new techniques.
For more information about the exhibit, call the Double 6 Gallery, 287-7311. The gallery is located at 1001 Santa Fe Lane on the historic Rt. 66. It is open Mon.-Fri. from 1-5 pm and Saturday, 9-5.
