Belen Coffee Shop Offers Fine Coffees and Tasty Lunches Too...
Belen, NM: Up in Belen at 620 River Rd is the friendly local coffee shop known as Las Hermanas. The shops name translates into English as "The Sisters" and it features fine coffees, lattes and smoothies plus daily pastry specials, fresh food and daily lunch specials as well.
The attractively decorated coffee bar is proving quite popular around Belen which these days boasts just as many gourmet coffee lovers as every other community in New Mexico. The early-rising customers at Las Hermanas begin making their daily pilgrimages to the shop at 6:00 a.m. each day from Monday through Saturday. As popular as good coffee is these days, the place stays busy all morning long as Belen-area commuters stop by to grab a cup "for the road" on their way to work and local shoppers and office workers drop in for their mid-morning "coffee break". Coffee lovers continue to keep the doors of Las Hermanas swinging right through the lunch hour when the shop offers healthy food and lunch specials and the places stays busy until 3:00 p.m. when the shop finally closes for the day and the war-weary staff finally heads for home to enjoy a quietly meditative cup of tea before cocktail hour arrives.
While sitting in the shop and enjoying a cup of our favorite dark-roast blend recently, we noticed folks who visit Las Hermanas seem to enjoy the shop not only for the hot-fresh coffee they serve but also for the fresh-baked and decadently delicious pastries they sell as well. At least, the morning we were there, it seemed obvious that many of the regular patrons who drop-in are just as interested in a tasty Danish or French pastries or a cinnamon roll as they are in the shop's primary product! We enjoyed both offerings and believe you will too!
