Compadres, the Nuevo Flamenco guitars of Oscar Lopez & James Keelaghan. Two world-class guitarists unite to present their signature “Celtino” sound. Together, Oscar Lopez and James Keelaghan perform Irish folk, flamenco, Latino, jazz, blues and pop music in a way that is both familiar and new, yet globally-infused. The crossover kings are joined in their acoustic set by friend Raphael Geronimo on percussion. Chilean born Lopez is the recipient of a Juno Award and has been named Instrumentalist of the Year by Prairie Music Awards, while Irish-Canadian singer-songwriter James Keelaghan was recently voted Best Singer -Traditional by the Canadian Folk Music Awards. In addition, each has produced chart topping, critically-acclaimed albums reminiscent of the inspired works of Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook and Robert Michaels.

Whispers in the dark. Aspen Santa Fe Ballet
In an encore performance that is certain to be explosive, the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet returns to the Spencer Theater. The 12-member corps de ballet performs to music that runs the gamut from Bach to Philip Glass, proving (as the Boston Herald says) that “classical technique can express the hippest of moods and ideas, and that contemporary ballet, when performed in an honest and straightforward manner, can indeed attract both a young and mature audience.” Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s repertoire is sophisticated and eclectic; fresh and fluid. The 2007 program includes Carol Armitage’s “Whispers in the Dark,” Twyla Tharp’s “Sinatra Suite,” and Jorma Elo’s “1st Flash.”

MASS (Music, Architecture, Sonic, Sculpture) is an internationally renowned performance group that combines unique musical sculptures and installations with traditional instrumentation, creating an unforgettable multi-sensory theatrical experience.
MASS Ensemble will transform the Spencer Theater into a giant interactive musical instrument! Highly visual and symphonic in nature, musicians wearing rosin-coated gloves play on sculptural instruments ranging in size from mini to truly massive. Bill Close, founder and artistic director, created these unique instruments to function as more than a performing arts backdrop. He believes it is through the resonance of design that “a true understanding of music and its powerful relationship to life” is realized.

In the family way. Cherryholmes, the First Family of Bluegrass Music.
Since 2002, Cherryholmes, a family of four siblings plus mom and dad, has been taking the bluegrass world by storm. Traveling and performing almost 300 days a year, they’ve earned top accolades on the Billboard charts and with the International Bluegrass Music Association. With their trademark drive and energy, the sextet sing, dance and play their music in unbridled fashion, introducing at the same time uncommonly smooth harmonies, crossed with “rough around the edges” country-style vocals. Cherryholmes presents a mix of original songs written by members of the band and some carefully chosen bluegrass and jazz classics. Fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar and upright bass are no strangers to the virtuosity and warmth of the close-knit, first family of bluegrass.
