Destination Sierra County Art and Culture Fair
features workshops, musical events - even relaxing soaks
Sierra County, NM – Hot-springs mineral baths have played an important role in the Truth or Consequences area throughout history. And this year, alternative healing methods along with mineral-bath soaks will be among the features of the 4th Annual Destination Sierra County, NM, A Regional Fair of Art & Culture Oct. 12 – 14.
Along with relaxing free or reduced-fee soaks at Truth or Consequences Historical Bath Houses, enjoy a full range of Alternative Healing & Movement workshops & demonstrations, three days of fine Arts & Crafts Exhibits; Music, Dance & Poetry Performances; Workshops, Demonstrations & Speakers.
Special Presentations include “Text in Art” with Hillsboro artists R. Wm & Nolan Winkler; “Time Fades Away: Alters, Shrines & Graves with Tucson transplants, writer Margo Donaldson & photographer Samuel Ace; “New Eyes: Sierra County Seen Thru The Eyes of Local Filmmakers” with T or C writer and videographer Jay Hopkins; “Documentary Filmmaking” by Albuquerque filmmaker, who is currently filming in Hillsboro, Erin Hudson. “This is Your Eye” by John Meluso, author and lecturer.
Hands-on workshops include 2 different landscape painting opportunities; a 2-day workshop with Plein Air artist David Farrell at his Hillsboro Studio & 2-day session with master draftsman, painter & teacher, Loren Schmidt & Southwest painter Olin B. West, to be held at the Hidden Coulee Quarter Horse Ranch just outside Truth or Consequences. A Punched Tin workshop with Josh Bond in Cuchillo, sculptor and metal worker and a workshop on Handpainted Silk offered by fiber artist Sandy Hopper at her Elephant Butte Studio will also be part of this years Destination program.
Other Not-To-Be-Missed events include a “Recycled House & Garden Tour”, a Saturday Night Gallery Hop, The Sierra County Farmers Market and the ever popular Sunday Champagne Brunch, all in Truth or Consequences.

Celestial Creations Hosts Art & Plans Workshops for
Destination Sierra County Weekend
Truth or Consequences, NM – Celestial Creations Gallery will present two workshops during Destination Sierra County weekend. On Friday Oct. 12th at 2 p.m., Danny Springer invites the public to create their own art for free! Danny specializes in Divine Creations in Colored Polymer. This is a great event for children, too. There will be a nominal charge if you want to take your art home. Wear appropriate clothing.
On Saturday Oct. 13th, a “Build A Mosaic Birdhouse” Workshop will be held by Steph Ross at Celestial Creations, 220 N. Date, T or C. Starts at 11 a.m., approx. 3 hours. $10.00 fee. Advance reservation recommended. Bring a small unfinished wooden birdhouse plus a flat rock as a base, plus buttons, sticks, marbles, broken dishes/ceramic, small stones, sticks—whatever you want to include in your creation! Paint and grout, tables and chairs will be supplied. Wear appropriate clothing.
