Alamogordo Rolls Out Green Carpet
For 17th Annual Labor Day Weekend Festival
Alamogordo, NM - You may know nothing about Alamogordo except as the city next to White Sands National Monument. Indeed, it's the closest town to that play land of white but Alamogordo is not a hot, desolate town in the middle of nowhere.
<img src=http://sonewmex.com/images/ctnwd3.JPG align=left hspace=4 border=1>A great way to find out more about the area is during its annual Labor Day Weekend event. The Cottonwood Festival is aptly named as it sits under the huge trees in Alameda Park.<img src=http://sonewmex.com/images/ctnwd4.JPG align=right hspace=4 border=1>
The tree-day event celebrates in the harvest tradition with a wealth of hand-crafted, original art, décor items and gifts. This year, some 70 vendors have already signed up to participate with inventories including woodwork, quilts, ceramics, porcelain, and others.
Of course there will be plenty of food and continual music and entertainment. Plus, plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied.
Sponsored by the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce, the Cottonwood Festival runs from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday and 10 am to 4 pm on Monday.
