Mountainair, New Mexico – Fall brings new colors to Cibola Arts Gallery. Opening on October 20th, their newest show features the solo work of fiber artist Meg Chobanian. Pieceable Art will present new fiberarts pieces in a palette of autumn colors, with a few interesting detours into fancy. Traditional patchwork takes on new character with this artist’s unique slant on old patterns in new ways.

With her skill in design recently shown by the Mountainair Sunflower Raffle quilt, the work in this show carries on the style of creating keepsakes. While color is always the primary focus, this artist believes strongly in the quality of the craft. “I want each of my pieces to endure as an heirloom.” She combines the legacy of quilting with an escape from many of the usual expectations. While most of the work is new, the show will include Pumpkin Patches, an award winning quilt that sets the stage for Halloween with brilliant fall colors. Tiny wall hangings, clothing and large quilts will show off this unusual view of fiber arts.

The opening reception for Pieceable Art will be on Saturday Oct. 20th, from 2 to 4 pm. Visit Cibola Arts Gallery to see their new look as well as new works by members of the co-op. Susan Aulde is creating new reflections in glass, and painter Addie Draper has filled the walls with clouds. Join these local artists to see their expressions of the beauty of New Mexico.

And plan on attending the holiday show beginning December 1st. Cibola Arts Gallery in Mountainair will open their “Holiday Show” on December 1st from 2-4 pm. Come join the festivities and buy all your holiday gifts locally this year. Food and drink will be served during the reception. The show will run through Jan. 16, 2008.
