It’s just one of the delightful creations by the talented Magdalena artist. She weaves stories into her baskets producing treasures with earth’s bounty. An award winning artist in painting and basketry, Holly will be the Artist of the Month in November at The Common Thread in Silver City.
“I like the idea of giving new life to discarded and forgotten items. People now bring me objects they found while hiking. I can’t express the joy I feel when some old root or gnarly, rusty metal piece arrives. I kick the dirt off and go for it.” She’s on the New Mexico Fiber Arts Trail(#51) and her Magdalena studio is open Tuesdays and Wednesday.
