Grants, NM – The Cibola Arts Council’s Double 6 Gallery opens the new year with its second annual Museum Show. This year’s feature is Homesteads and the gallery will display artifacts from the Homestead era and art created by members depicting that era.
The Homestead Show will hang Jan. 1 through June 30 at the gallery, 1001 Santa Fe Ave. Robert Gallegos, gallery director, said the exhibit will feature artifacts from the 1900 to 1940s with a reading display, comparisons of prices then and now, news articles of the day including a plane crash on Mt. Taylor during that time, and various artifacts gleaned from old homesteads. “We’re working with Bureau of Land Management and Park rangers on the history,” he said.
Member artists meanwhile will exhibit their art inspired by the homestead era.
Meanwhile, the exhibits of new works by members and the Liliputian Show continue at the gallery. The gallery is open Monday through Friday 1-5 pm and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm. Call 505-287-7311 or visit www.ca66.com (http://www.ca66.com/) for more information.
