Truth or Consequences--Celestial Creations, where everything is made in New Mexico, is pleased to announce an Artist's Reception on Sat. Jan 12th from 6-9 p.m. for two women with quite different talents.

Newcomer to T or C Susan Robinson is a jewelry artisan working in dichroic glass under the name of Desert Fire Designs. Dichroic Glass was developed as a by-product of NASA research, and produces the effect of 'shifting colors' as you move the piece in the light. Desert Fire Designs' one-of-a-kind necklaces and earrings are priced from just $18.95.

Celestial Creations' owner Celeste Rich says she met the second artist, Jackie Herrera, who goes by the artistic pseudonym Jade, when both attended the statewide meeting of Arts Councils held in T or C several months back. Jade came into the gallery and loved what she saw: the colorful, open, airy layout; the quality of work; the ambience and attitude. She and Rich had a discussion and in a few short weeks she was visiting T or C again from Las Vegas (New Mexico, of course!) to bring some of her paintings to show at Rich's gallery. While much of her work can be termed 'Southwestern' in style, Jade also likes to work in mixed media.

“How fortunate I am to live where the sky and clouds, the trees and unique landscapes, Native and Southwestern traditions and richly diverse cultures offer so much to the imagination and entice one to create and capture what is seen,” says Jade in her artist’s statement. “Colorful and comfortable has been used to describe my art, I believe that also defines who I am. I have been painting for a little more than six years, I am self taught and paint in oils, acrylic, watercolor and paper collage. I feel that utilizing these different modes allows me to capture and share what I see and feel.” She is a founding member of Pendaries Art League Studio Tour, the Las Vegas Celebrates the Arts Studio Tour, and president of the Las Vegas Arts Council and New Mexico Community Arts Network. Her work is shown at Art Essentials and War Dancer in Las Vegas; Crossover Gallery, Albuquerque; Los Alamos Lodge, Los Alamos and Celestial Creations.

Celestial Creations is skipping the December Art Hop (6-9 p.m. 12/8), to allow for the enjoyment of the Luminaria and Lighted Boat Parade in Elephant Butte, but will be open their regular hours of 10-5 on every day except Sunday, when it's 11-4, and Wednesdays, when they are closed.
