2008 White Sands Film Festival goes international
is scheduled for March 16-22, 2008
Alamogordo, NM – More than a hundred films have been submitted from locations all over the globe, and from throughout the United States and Canada for the film festival.
All films will be shown at Allen Theaters majestic all-new “Aviator 10” theater, 3651 Mesa Village Drive in northern Alamogordo.
Also new, this year the film festival will feature a new humanitarian outreach program with Mexico, including documentary and narrative film, honoring the Mexican Film Industry, films made in New Mexico and many other events.
Workshops, seminars and exquisite galas are planned. Special appearances and special awards including a high school competition at the New Mexico Museum of Space History; a performance of “Little Women” at the Spencer Theater and a wonderful workshop “Swashbuckling for the Silver Screen” by J.R. Beardsley.
There are two categories of competition this year: Documentaries and Narrative Films.
Documentary judge this year will be Dr. Sam Smiley, USA, well-known writer, actor, director and presenter from the 2007 White Sands Film Festival. Narrative film judges this year include David Flynn, of Dublin, Ireland, producer and director agent; and an award winning partnership of judges-- artist and screenwriter, Kathy Gori and her husband, Alan Berger, producer and co-screenwriter, both from the United States.
