Truth or Consequences, New Mexico – The 2007 Safari of Painted Elephants and Turtles gathers acclaimed artists together on a mission: To help raise funds to restore the aging roof at Geronimo Springs Museum .
This is the second year for the fundraiser which offers hand-painted elephants and turtles, each piece designed and painted by a different artist. These one-of-a-kind collectable ceramic turtles and elephants each have a name and a story behind them.

Other artists are Major Benton of Silver City, Tomi LaPierre of Las Cruces, Lynn Orona of Deming, and Jim Pearson and Brooke Wiley of Albuquerque.
The eight Painted Elephants and Turtles are on displayat Geronimo Springs Museum until the auction, slated for late February, 2008.
Tickets are available and on sale at $10.00 each, and the purchaser may specify which piece of art work the ticket is for. There will be a total of 8 drawings, one for each elephant and turtle. The drawings will be held at the Sierra County Historical Society annual dinner in late February. All proceeds from the Safari of Painted Elephants and Turtles will go toward the Museum roofing fund.

There is a need for a new roof over the entire complex, which will have to be done in phases. Last year the Safari of Painted Elephants and Turtles started the fund raising for this massive project. This years Safari will continue those efforts.
