Barbecue Contest brews up food, music, fun in Rio Rancho
Bull Riding Challenge adds to excitement
<img src=http://sonewmex.com/banners/riorancho.jpg border=1 hspace=5 align=right>Rio Rancho – The 5th Annual Pork & Brew starts at noon on Friday, March 28 and continues on Saturday, March 29 at the Santa Ana Star Center located at 3001 Civic Center Drive in the new Rio Rancho City Center. Come sample BBQ and other delights from national and local participants as well as many other vendors. Live entertainment, fun jumps, pig races, kids corral, and magic shows liven up this event. Saturday’s feature entertainer Syd Masters and the Swing Riders will perform from 1PM – 3PM. Art Perez, Pork & Brew event organizer says, “I am excited with the new addition this year of the World Cup Bull Riding All-Star Challenge. It will feature 2-time IPRA World Champion Jim Meyers, with participants from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Spain, and the United States”. There will be three shows each day, March 28th and 29th.
The Annual Pork & Brew BBQ State Championship is sponsored by the Rio Rancho Convention & Visitors Bureau (RRCVB) held every March in Rio Rancho, NM. Pork & Brew (P&B) is a fully sanctioned Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) event and is one of the top 10 events on the KCBS annual calendar. Judi Snow, RRCVB Director adds, “With over 30,000 in attendance last year this makes P&B one of the largest two day events in New Mexico”. Winners go on to participate in Kansas City, KS at the Nationals.
The World Cup Bull Riders was founded in 1999 by Ken Churchill – a highly decorated bull riding champion. The World Cup Bull Riders is the first bull riding association to form a World Cup competition between countries.
