Deming NM- Family Community Theater of Deming will present it’s second annual play March 7 and 8 and 9 in Holy Family Church Hall 615 S. Copper in Deming. Performances will be at 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday evenings with a chuck wagon dinner to precede the performance at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. Sunday’s performance will be a matinee at 2 p.m.
Directed by Nancy Van Beusekom, The Golden Gals Go West was written for the theater group by Shirley Knight of Deming. Knight began writing plays for local performance in order to raise funds for local organizations beginning with the elevator in the museum. This year will be no exception with proceeds going to a local charity selected by the cast and crew. There will also be a silent auction Saturday night.
Playwright Knight said the play is a funny musical. She always writes in order to “bring laughter to people,” she said. It is also appropriate for all ages.
Family Community Theater is a group of Deming locals who enjoy singing and acting and the performances promise to be a lot of fun, Knight said.
Tickets are $6 for the Friday and Sunday show and $12 for Saturday’s dinner and show.
They are available at the door, at the Holy Family Church office until noon on weekdays, at the Deming Museum and from any cast member.
