Greenhouse Cafe - Lincoln County at its best...
Greenhouse Cafe is a fine Capitan restaurant featuring gourmet meals, heavenly desserts and delicious fresh veggies grown hydroponically in their private greenhouse. They're located at 103 S. Lincoln just one door south of the intersection of Hwy 48 and US380 (Smokey Bear Blvd) in the heart of historic Capitan.
They feature lunch and dinner Wednesday through Saturday and a bountiful Sunday Brunch too. (I'm told lunch is only served during the warm months. So, please call ahead before going there for lunch.) Greenhouse Cafe is also a great booster of local art and tourism in Capitan and Lincoln County. If you live in Ruidoso, Carrizozo, Lincoln, Nogal, Alto or the Hondo Valley, it's a short trip to Capitan and you're sure to enjoy one of Lincoln County's finest meals.
Our experience as Greenhouse guests convinced us they serve the tastiest food and freshest veggies in Lincoln County. The evening we enjoyed there featured one of the best meals we've had in years. My wife was in heaven eating their vegan platter and my Tilapia was the best I've had since we lived in Annapolis. I told our hostess I never expected a New Mexico chef to know how to prepare seafood so well and joked that the fish might not have sold themselves to the fishermen so cheaply if they'd known the chef was going to make them taste that good. In short, the Greenhouse food is great. We highly recommend the place.
When you plan to be in Capitan be sure to call ahead (505-354-0373) for a reservation. The place is popular... and rightly so!
When you visit, thank them for their support of the arts in their area and tell them you heard about them in Steppin' Out, please.
Bon appetite!
