Belen – Spring’s the time to bring out all the new and the best. And Belen Art League members annually set out to accomplish this with their Spring Art Show at the Historic Harvey House. This year’s show opens with a reception on Saturday, May 10 from 12: 30 – 3:30 p.m.

The show continues through June 6 and is followed by a solo show by League member John Bock.

Last year’s Spring Show included 40 artists showing 130 works of art in a wide variety of media and including two and three-dimensional works. Subject matter ranged from southwest landscapes to images from China, Peru and Africa in styles from realism, abstract, impressionistic and pointillism.

The work was spectacular and well presented. Lots of people attended throughout the show and several pieces sold. This year’s show promises to be better than each previous year. Member artists must submit new work each year for the show and find the event very competitive with the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice awards coveted ribbons.

The show hangs from May 10 to June 6. The Harvey House is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:30 pm to 3:30 p.m. The Historic Harvey House is located just south of Reinken Ave. at 1st and railroad (west of the RailRunner). The Belen Art League annually funds a scholarship for young artists and presents music in the park evenings for the community.
