Ruidoso Artists Replace
'Drive All Weekend Studio Tour' with
New 'Take Your Time' Summer-Long Tour

With the price of gas setting new records every week, the creative members of the Art In the Pines group in Lincoln County have come up with a new way to help us all save gas... Instead of the usual "Lets all make Exxon richer by driving around all weekend Studio Tour" they're planning a low carbon footprint Studio Tour instead.
Here's the scoop... It arrived in the form of a press notice we received from Art in The Pines a few days ago:<center><table border=0 align=center><tr><td><caption><font size=-1 face="Arial Narrow" color=#000000>Here you see the inside of the transformed mill which Art In The Pines has been turned into an art gallery.</font></caption><img src=http://sonewmex.com/images/Ruidoso_OldMill_Inside.jpg border=1 align=center vspace=5 hspace=5 alt="Here you see the inside of the transformed mill which Art In The Pines has been turned into an art gallery."></td></tr></table></center>
Art In The Pines, [an association of] Ruidoso / Ruidoso Downs artists was formed 5 years ago, as an artists studio tour. We also added The Christmas Mini Show and did that for 2 years at The Old Mill, on Sudderth Drive in Ruidoso. This year, due to the high cost of gas, we decided to take advantage of an offer to use The Old Mill for the whole summer season. There are 16 artists participating in the Old Mill Gallery.
Our work includes acrylics, watercolor, oils, and continues on into gourds, fiber art, wood turning, photography, digitized art, jewelry, hand painted silks. Many of the artists have produced note cards from their original work and these are a popular item with our group.
Along with a first class art gallery, it is great to be able to give a history of The Old Mill. The wheel will be turning throughout the summer and we will have fresh ground cornmeal to offer our visitors as well.
There you have it, friends... A great new fuel saving idea from the Artists of Art in the Pines. Now you can avoid driving around in endless circles and arrange to visit their gallery on any day that's convenient for you this summer. You can even combine yor visit with other errands on the day you go and double-up on your gas-saving too!
But the best part is that when you drop in for a visit you'll find the art is very reasonably priced as well.
