John Lee Hooker, Jr. calls his style: "2 parts R&B, 1 part jazz and "down home blues." Hooker Jr. is carrying on a century-old family musical heritage - that he learned from his father John, Sr.

Also appearing will be the Bernie Pearl Blues Band. Pearl is a guitarist with an upbeat, finger-poppin' picking style he learned at the elbows of blues masters Sam 'Lightnin' Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, Mississippi Fred MacDowell, and others. Pearl provides virtuosity, country wisdom, a warm voice, and the kind of finger picking and slide guitar work that still gets juke joints jumping.

A local favorite, Sugarhouse, will reunite and return to Aztec for this special event. Jana will be doing her unique vocals and pounding the drums, Jason will join us to thrill us with his amazing riffs and Michael will complete the trio.

Mojambus is an old school blues machine, with a new school, raw vibe! They have established a strong blues presence by playing their gutbucket blues with NO compromise. Massive stage energy, stage presence, and unforgiving razor edged soul will make you, a witness to Mojambus

Kirk James is solidly grounded in the Texas Blues tradition, playing Ragtime, Texas Shuffles and funky grooves. His unmistakable phrasing mixed with bottleneck slide conjures images of T-Bone Walker, Elmore James and Lightning Hopkins. A blues performer of 20 years, Kirk is known for his strong blues guitar style and distinctive vocals.
