The exhibit, Maria Rodriguez-Pope, a retrospective, will hang June 3-28 at the Museum, located at the corner of Main and Luna Streets under the Water Tower. An artist reception is set for Saturday, June 7 from 2-4 pm.

Maria’s poetry, paintings and sculptures celebrate strong, enduring and passionate women. She creates art using images gleaned from her years of archeological research, her childhood recollections of tortuous poverty amid the splendor of rural Argentina.

In July, the museum will feature work by Los Lunas Vietnam Veteran Rafael Gonzales.

The Los Lunas Museum of Heritage & Arts is a special collections library and is considered part of the Los Lunas Public Library. As part of its mission, the museum works to:

Collect the oral histories, photos and artifacts of long time area residents and businesses;
Preserve and archive the oral histories and artifacts collected;
Provide an educational outlet by exhibiting selected histories, arts, traveling displays and sponsoring guest speakers; and
Provide genealogical materials in electronic and hardcopy format for research purposes.
The Museum is open Tuesday through Friday noon to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. Call director James Fernandez (505) 352- 7720 for more information or send email to: fernandezj@loslunasnm.gov (fernandezj@loslunasnm.gov).
