Among the award winning artists to be featured at Art Loop studio tour and the 37th Ruidoso Art Festival is Victoria Mauldin. The Ruidoso Art Festival has been recognized by the Harris Poll as one of the top Juried Art Shows in the United States.

The Festival features over 100 award-winning artists displaying work in a variety of fine art mediums – all in one convenient venue, the Ruidoso Convention Center. The festival, opens Friday, July 25 from noon to 6 pm and continues on Saturday 10 am - 6 pm and Sunday, 11 am - 5 pm.

Mauldin has received numerous awards for her artwork. She has had several solo shows since moving to New Mexico and has been juried into numerous others. She currently is represented by Oso Gallery in Capitan. You can also view her work in her studio/gallery and on her website www.vmauldinart.com (http://www.vmauldinart.com/)

Victoria Mauldin paints wildlife, landscapes and figurative subjects in contemporary realism, a combination of “representational realism” with some of the elements of impressionism and abstraction. Working in oils, acrylics, and colored pencil, she enjoys using a variety of styles as she captures the beauty of New Mexico, the Southwest and Mexico.

Mauldin’s paintings are intended to capture the magic of a special moment. While some of her paintings may bring the viewer an immediate feeling of the familiar and a sense of “I’ve been there!” much of her subject matter may simply pique one’s interest with the unknown and the intriguing. She hopes to entice the viewer to ponder their own interpretation and connection to a painting.

Mauldin has been active in the painting scene since moving to the Ruidoso area in 2001. She served as coordinator for the Alto Artists Studio Tour in 2005 and the Treasurer of Sierra Blanca Arts Show in 2006. She also served as president of the Ruidoso Regional Council for the Arts that same year.
