The feeling at the Hondo Iris Farm is of Old New Mexico. Time slows down. Suddenly there is time to sit in the sun, enjoy a picnic lunch, then wander through rows of rainbow hued flowers under a turquoise sky.

The sense of authentic Old New Mexico is made more pronounced as you enter the on-grounds showcase of Alice Seely, whose family has been in New Mexico for generations. Ms. Seely embodies the essence of the creative nature that makes New Mexico famous. Her creations in clothing, paintings, carpets, pillows, are beautiful, stunning. Her clothing designs, available in the boutique, range from softly draping fabrics to jackets suitable with jeans or opera dress.

Ms. Seely also designs jewelry and her nearby factory / studio is open to the public.

“In August, we are having an Iris Sale of select Iris in our garden, many of them the most beautiful and most hearty,” said David Hall, co-owner.

He added that wife Alice Seely is “developing quite a following for her clothing which no one expets to find at an Iris farm.” Seely recently introduced a new line of embroidered textiles and pillows at the Las Vegas World Trade Center. In September, shop for Chistmas at the Iris Farm where there’ll be imported Nativity scenes and folk art.
