T or C – Come celebrate at Celestial Creations where they will celebrate their second anniversary on Sept. 13. Celestial Creation, 220 N. Date St, is known for the huge eclectic selection of New Mexico made art, gifts, jewelry, gourmet foods, home décor & fiber arts. Receptions each month coincide with the monthly Art Hops 6-9 p.m. Art Hops are always on the 2nd Saturday of each month, which translates to 8/9, 9/13, 10/11 & 11/8. Along with live music by Mark Humble, door prizes & samples from their Gourmet Foods Section, you will have an opportunity to meet the Featured Artist or Artisan of the month.
“My vision of Celestial Creations,” says owner Celeste Rich, “was to create a space where customers could come to find quality items actually created in New Mexico—something for every taste and budget. During the past two years, we have grown from representing 30 artists, artisans, craftspeople and companies to representing well over a 100, and have been written up in the prestigious New Mexico Magazine (Feb 08 Artscapes).
Featured artists and exhibits for the next two months include:
Aug. 9: Master metaphysical healer and aura reader Richard Clementi, of T or C, makes ‘charged healing’ pendants and copper wands. Each piece comes with its own documentation explaining the healing properties of each crystal and stone used. Rich and his wife Debbie also make necklaces from semi-precious stones. Artisan Steve Neuberger will also be on hand for the August reception, showing his stained glass, wind chimes, and whimsical Desert Fairies. Wind chimes are made from various metal ‘tubes’, semi-precious stones, metal butterflies, Kokopellis and Cholla cactus. The Desert Fairies, Steve says, “live on spider webs, were raised by scorpions, and bring good luck to the owner”, among other tales tall and short. They are certainly fun items for children or for the inner child in you. Steve and his wife Mickey will be traveling from Edgewood for the Art Hop, but Celestial Creations has his wonderful work on hand right now.
The Sept. 13 anniversary reception will feature very special guest Ed Moss of T or C. Ed Describes his work as abstract impressionism. “I project a mood in my work that includes light and shadow to define the image. I like to leave some areas incomplete with just a hint of what is there to allow the viewer…to become more involved with the work…He is currently represented by Spirit Art of Mike’al in Amarillo, TX, BizzArt Studio and Gallery in Bisbee, AZ, and Sue’s Antiques and Gallery in Hillsboro, NM.
“I’m committed to supporting alternative and new artists and artisans of New Mexico,” says Celeste, “as well as showcasing established artists of some renown. I am constantly seeking out new and unusual inventory such as Grandma Joan’s Chokecherry Jelly, Good Earth Pottery, and the Desert Fairies/Gnomes I brought back from my most recent trip to Taos and Las Vegas (New Mexico, of course!)
“ We hope you’ll come in and take the time to browse our 3,000 square foot air conditioned oasis soon.” Celestial Creations is located at 220 N. Date St., just 2 blocks from the Downtown Historic Bath House District.
