Grants, N.M - It’s billed as Western New Mexico’s largest ceramics show. And if the exhibit is anywhere near the size of last year’s, they won’t be exaggerating.
The 500 pieces in last year’s show took up table and wall space throughout the large Double 6 Gallery at 1001 Santa Fe Ave.
Artists from around the state are expected to exhibit again this year. Carrizozo artist Scott Goewey is among those traveling for the show. Scott’s pottery has been shown in Faenza, Italy, and Nagoya, Japan. His work is in private and public collections including the Premier Museum of American Contemporary Ceramics, and the Everson Museum of Art in New York.
Artists who live closer to Grants include those from Whooville Artists Collective, Magnolia Cottage, and Lobo Canyon Pottery.
The show opens Sept. 1. The artists’ reception is set the first Saturday of October (Oct. 4) from 1-4 pm. The show continues through October.
Last year, people were stunned at the sheer number of pots, wall hangings, plates, candleholders and jewelry. So be ready to feast your eyes on a variety of artwork in a variety of glazes and styles.
