The theme is architecture."></td></tr></table>The exhibit will be a juried, themed show, open to any artist working in any original media except photography. The Studio’s Grand Opening Reception for the fundraiser will be April 4th, from 5-8 pm.

The name of the show is The American Dream and the theme, of course, is architecture, with a focus on local scenes. Any artist who can hand-deliver his or her work and is within the guidelines for the theme can enter. There is no admission charge for the grand opening and the Reception is open to the public. Festivities will include wine from Tularosa Vineyards, a silent auction, and an awards presentation for the best artwork as judged by our Featured Artist, Kathy Hauge of High Rolls.

The show will run from April 4th through May 1st, 2009.

Artists will be paid for work sold, the gallery will take a commission, and any unsold work at the close of the show will be returned to the artists who submitted it.

Artist/owners, Marcos & Robin Lee, relocated to Tularosa last April from Florida, and have spend the last eight months renovating the old Tularosa Monuments building, located at the north “Y” junction of highways 54 & 70, thus the name. The building, originally a 70-year-old, two-bay service station across from the Conoco Truck Stop, will function as the artists’ studio and gallery to show their award-winning work. Additionally, the gallery will feature work from other local and national artists, such as watercolorist, Cyndy Nesbit of Sacramento, NM; weavers Kenny Nix & Kelly Stewart of High Rolls; fine craft by Jan Rasch of Cloudcroft; ceramist, David Gordon of Cloudcroft, NM; metalwork by Sonny Villareal of Alamogordo, NM; and watercolorist & oil painter, Karen Leffel- Massengill of Palm City, FL. Any artist is welcome to submit work for consideration. In addition to the artists represented, the Gallery will be featuring several themed, open-juried shows per year. Shows in the planningstages for 2009 include the Habitat show, a pet-themed show, Unconditional Love, in September to benefit the K-9 & Feline Assistance Program of Tularosa, a no-kill shelter; a photography show, and a one-woman summer show featuring the work of Karen Leffel-Massengill. The summer show will also include a workshop with Karen, a nationally recognized, awardwinning painter & instructor.

The artist/ owners live on the premises, so offhour appointments are easily made. Studio hours are by chance or by appointment. The phone number is easy to remember: 575-585-5470.

Studio 54@70</a> is located at 1201 St. Francis Drive in Tularosa. Directions from Alamogordo coming north: stay on 54/70 through Tularosa and stay in the left lane. Where the soft left would keep you on 54 going north, take a hard left into the parking lot. The gallery is on the west side of 54 on the corner of Alamo & St. Francis Drive. The stucco building with the colorful red double doors is difficult to miss.
