Madrid – Johnsons of Madrid will exhibit “Celebration of the Earth: This Land’s/Art” in May, featuring work whose subject is “This Land’s Art.” This exhibit is the first of several shows which will celebrate the earth.

EARTH art works: 3 galleries for 12 artists, each with solo walls, plus works from 12 sculptors. Painters: Doug Czor, Carolyn Pedersen, Mary Sweet; photographers: Patrick Downing, Thea Witt, Gail Yavonovich; printmakers: Albert Noyer, Gwen Peterson, Ed Wyatt; and fiber artists: Dorothy Bunny Bowen, Susan Goewey, Cathy Haight.
From 1-3 pm, enjoy chamber music arranged and presented by Chase Morrison and Mary Springfells in the Johnsons’ performance space. An art reception at the galleries follows.
This exhibit is the first of a series of shows which will Celebrate the Earth, a long tradition of the Johnson’s of Madrid, who have been leaders in the environmental movement since arriving in Madrid in 1973. These planned events were inspired by all the "Land/Art 2009" events, coordinated by 516 Arts in Abuquerque., www.landartnm.org (http://www.landartnm.org/).
