Historic Madrid photos, world art at Johnsons of Madrid

Madrid, NM – Johnsons of Madrid Galleries of Fine and Fiber Art will feature historic photographs of Madrid, the liveliest ghost town in the West, during July. Come up for the 4th of July weekend for the parade, baseball game and lots and lots of art.
“Madrid always invites folks who lived in Madrid during the mining days to come to our parade & visit new Madrid residents,” says Diana Johnson. “We will be showing a CD of historic photos from the Huber family album and cds of more recent Madrid folks and events.” The showing on the first Saturday, also the 4th of July, is from 1-3 pm during the Johnsons’ regularly scheduled First Saturday event.
From 3-5, the Johnsons host an art reception for their exhibition, “Celebration of the Earth: The World’s Art.” The exhibits in the various spaces of the huge gallery complex will continue through August. The first Saturday in August will feature chamber music from 1-3 pm, coordinated by Chase Morrison and Mary Springfel.
Exhibitions include: Mel’s studio, solo exhibition; Painters & pastel artists: Mell Feltman, Robert Lee Skaggs, Ralph Williams; photographers: Kent Bowser, Carole Devillers, Ford Robbins; Printmakers: Ursula Freer, Maureen Howles, Curtis Thorpe
Fiber Artists: Diedre Adams, Cheri Reckers, Betsy Brown Townsend
Sculptors: (in above 3 galleries) Solo: Timothy Roundy, Solo: Michael Orgel, Group: Doug Czor, Scott Goewey, Ed Larson, Bill Maxon, Tom Morin, Jeanette Oliver, Darl Thomas
