Magdalena - A festival atmosphere pervades the streets of Magdalena New Mexico during Old Timers Days. The home-grown celebration extends to all villagers, just like celebrations of years past, and people gather from miles around to socialize, listen to music and show off their latest creations.
As the premier art gallery in the high country, Peppers opens its surrounding grounds to artists from the region for a weekend of colorful booths and art of all genres. Owner Marky Bamert always looks forward to the July event and has invited numerous talented people to the festival over the years.
Along with the 50 plus artists the gallery represents, guests for the weekend will include Shirley LaMar, whose delightful tiny “meeples” sculptures and color gourds make great little gifts and brighten up your home as well.
Be sure to step inside to see the great collection of Native American pottery and weavings, wood carvings by Bill Strickler, so real you’ll do a double-take; fabric art, photographs and fine crafted jewelry.
