CarriZooZoo Festival of Animals

Carrizozo - The CarriZooZoo Festival of Animals begins on Saturday, Oct. 19 with the gala opening of ZoZo Gallery's Celebrating Animals Art Exhibition and continues at variou venues around the town. One of the day's highlights is a demonstration by New Mexico's own "Sage" the FEMA disaster dog honored for her work on Sept. 11, 2001 at the Pentagon.  For more information, call 505-648-2612. London Frontier Theatre Company

Magdalena –  London Frontier Theatre presents DARK MOON OVER LOST WIFE CREEK.  A phantom hound, a strange night visitor, and a road that never goes twice to the same place - what haunts Lost Wife Creek?   Dark Moon, a complete play in itself, is the sixth in the immensely-popular Lost Wife Creek series. The rollicking saga of the Aragons & the Trotters continue as they carry on in the Great Depression, 1930's New Mexico.

     Performances are Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26, both at 7pm, and a matinee on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2pm, all at Magdalena's historic WPA Gym on Main at Fourth Street.  Tickets are $3.50 for adults, $2.00 for children under twelve, and are available at Outlaws Store in Magdalena; at Door, 45 minutes prior to performance, and by Reservation (recommended) at (505) 854-2519 or visit www.londonfrontiertheatre.com. Doña Ana Arts Council's 31st Annual Renaissance Craftfaire

Las Cruces - The 31st Annual Renaissance Craftfaire, sponsored by the Do–a Ana Arts Council,  will  transform Young Park  into the realm of Doña Ana and the Renaissance era. The Faire,  Nov.  2&3, in Las Cruces, NM  will be open 10 am to 5 pm each day.    Young Park is located one block south of the intersection of Lohman and Walnut Avenues and is easily accessible from both I-25 (Lohman exit) and I-10 (Amador exit).  More than 160 artisans from New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and other states will sell handcrafted wares including stained glass, pottery, photography, leather goods, jewelry, paintings, textiles and wood.  In addition to the artists' booths, the two-day festival features on-going entertainment at two different entertainment areas, royal processions, The Holy Grail Society, fantastic food booths and The Children's Realm, a large area with children's activities and entertainment. 

    To avoid parking congestion, faire-goers are encouraged to ride the FREE shuttle, from the NMSU Advanced Manufacturing Center (located at 2345 E. Nevada Street) to and from the park.  The shuttle, courtesy of Wells Fargo Bank, will run every 10-15 minutes.  Additional faire information may be obtained from the Doña Ana Arts Council, 224 N. Thursday, Nov.  7 The McCune Charitable Foundation, New Mexico Arts and New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series presents the National Dance Institute featuring Magdalena and Socorro youth in athletic, theatrical dance.  Tickets are $6 for adults and seniors, free to youth.

Saturday, Nov. 9 - New Mexico Tech President Dan Lopez presents Willy Sucre and Friends in the Presidential Chamber Music Series. The evening is free and the public is invited. The concert starts promptly at 7:30 pm.

Wednesday, Nov. 20 - New Mexico Symphony Orchestra with Conductor Guillermo Figueroa  in his first-time visit to Macey Center. The performance, always a popular Festival of the Cranes event, will feature a symphony, concerto and overture. Tickets are $14 adults, $12 for Seniors and $10 for Youth. The performance is sponsored by New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union, NM Tech Student Association and Van H. Gilbert Architect PC.

Saturday, December 7 - A Hollywood Nutcracker by State Street Ballet. Santa Barbara's professional ballet company presents this beloved holiday classic set in Hollywood Style. Artistic director Rodney Gustafson draws inspiration from old Hollywood giving the holiday classic an art deco twist. Glitzy dreamscapes are wrought with new dangers. The setting for this production is 1930s Hollywood while keeping to the original story line and beloved music of Tchaikovsky. Sponsors are First State Bank, Comcast, NMT S. A., Super 8, and El Defensor Chieftain.

Tickets are $16 adults, $14 Seniors, and $12 for youth.
