Adabel Adams "Banner Year" Keeps Getting Better...

No one can ever say New Mexico Artist Adabel Adams hasn't had an absolutely stunning year. First, she was chosen as the 2006 cover artist for the nationally famous Festival of the Cranes. Later last year Adams also graduated with honors from UNM Art School and now, just a few months later Steppin Out has received word that her work is being featured in a one-woman art show in Albuquerque.

What can we say but, "Wow!" It seems the only thing Adabel missed out on in the past year was being picked as Miss Universe. Who knows? Maybe THAT's in her future in 2007...

All jokes aside though, Ms Adams is unquestionably a very talented and hard working artist. Anyone who has seen her work knows that. In fact, it seems likely that Adabel's recent collection of an impressive list of art honors and awards is just the beginning of a long and very successful art career.

But, back to that original story about Adabel's one-woman Art Show...

A new exhibition featuring Adabel Adams, whose "Then There Were Three" artwork adorned the juried cover of the 2006 Bosque del Apache Festival of the Cranes program, will kick off Saturday, March 3 at the Gallery at The Source, 1111 Carlisle SE, in Albuquerque.

Entitled "The Inward Flight, An Exploration of Birds in Our Lives," the opening reception will take place from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., with an art talk by Adams at 7:30. The presentation will describe her work, symbolism and folk tales about birds. The show runs through March 31.

"The Inward Flight" is the title of a poem by Adams, originally published in the Nov. 2006 Mountain Mail Festival of the Cranes special edition. Adams said it was written based on an inspiration that came to her at Bosque del Apache.

Ms Adams can be contacted at adabel@adabeladams.com (adabel@adabeladams.com) We hear her lucky rabbit's foot is definitely not for sale. So please don't waste time asking about that.

Steppin Out extends our warmest best wishes and congratulations to, Ms Adams. with just three words...

You GO, girl!
