In conjunction with PhotoArts Santa Fe (a ten-day biennial festival taking place July 13-22), a number of Albuquerque galleries are planning PhotoArts ABQ with photography or photography-related exhibits.

PhotoArts Santa Fe produces a ten-day biennial festival taking place July 13–22. The festival includes city-wide photography exhibitions and special events in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
The festival creates opportunities for photographers, galleries, educational institutions and nonprofit
organizations to promote, exhibit and sell photographs. Other events include demonstrations, lectures, workshops, portfolio reviews and guided photo shoots. Photographic exhibits and accompanying events have been planned in Albuquerque to correspond with PhotoArts Santa Fe.
PhotoArts ABQ will feature artists such as Patrick Nagatani, Robert Reck, Ann Bromberg, Steven M. Williams, Leigh Anne Langwell, Eric Renner, Nancy Spencer, Dan Peebles, Roberto Rosales, Delilah Montoya, Pat Vasquez-Cunningham, Val Hollingsworth, student photographers from Laos and more.
A reception held by participating Albuquerque venues on the second day of the Santa Fe festival gives participants an opportunity to see a sampling of photographic arts in Albuquerque.

DCAC artists fill the hallways with an impressive display in various media, including the photography of Val Hollingsworth, Wes Naman, Kip Malone and Benjamin Winters. Val Hollingsworth and physicist Jason Errett present See\|/Saw - a room size camera obscura installation.

NM Pics: The State of Photography II
The Harwood Art Center revisits last year’s success of NM Pics: The State of Photography by showcasing a second round of talented New Mexico photographers. Contemporary artists and curators Holly Roberts, Miguel Gandert, and Teresa Eckmann have selected 12 photographers from around the state of New Mexico, each of whom will invite a second artist to exhibit with
them. The resulting 24 artists will present an expansive exhibition highlighting a range of talent by both established and emerging New Mexico artists. Artists include: Leigh Anne Langwell, Eric Renner, Nancy Spencer, Dan Peebles, Roberto Rosales, Delilah Montoya, Pat Vasquez-Cunningham and more.

Ann Bromberg: Ten Thousand Kisses
July 6 - 31, 2007
A group of 12 mixed media gum oil, polymer photo plates on watercolor paper. Inspired by Leonard Cohen's poem “A Thousand Kisses Deep,” each piece has an offering that was given to the artist through her years of travels from spiritual places around the world. The rich, evocative layers of repeated flowers along with various hand writing and other imagery represents the essence of love,
loss and spirit.

Through Our Own Eyes: Photos by Laotian Literacy Students
July 14 - August 17, 2007
An exhibit featuring work by young photographers using the camera to break through their isolation and forge bonds with students and artists in other countries. The 14- to 26-year-old Lao, Hmong, Khmu, PuNoi and Tai Lue photographers borrow cameras from a local library and exhibit and sell their work on the internet. Through Our Own Eyes offers a unique window into the everday lives of
young people in a poor, remote corner of southeast Asia.
