Discover Petroglyph National Monument & Natural World that Surrounds You
-Nature Journaling in Piedras Marcadas Canyon, 8am - 2pm

Petroglyph National Monument volunteer and artist Ray Kriese will conduct a free workshop on nature journaling in the field. This workshop is designed
for those who have taken his previous classes or have experience with nature journaling techniques.
Ray will walk with participants along the trail into Piedras Marcadas Canyon where more than 1000 petroglyphs can be seen. Along the way are stops where specific drawing and writing exercises will be practiced. Ray will provide interpretation of the geology, flora and fauna, as well as the petroglyph images and the people who made them. Free time will be offered so participants can record personal observations and express through journaling the power and inspiration of this sacred landscape.

Benefits of nature journaling…
· Make a connection with nature or re-establish contact with nature.
· You’ll find yourself refreshed, refocused, and better able to
approach the rest of your day.
· Therapeutic stress relief.
· Opens the opportunity to make the time to fully take in the world and
reflect on your own life.
· Offers you listening, meditation, and time with yourself.

No materials will be supplied. Participants must bring a journal or sketchbook, pencils, and pens. Be prepared for the weather conditions of the day. Bring plenty of water and wear a hat and sunscreen.

Advanced registration is required for this free workshop. Contact Susanna at 505-899-0205 ext. 332 to register.
