State Quilters' Association to show community service projects, giving quilting demonstrations


Belen, NM - Come and see some of the fiinest quilts made in New Mexico - and all made to give to those in need.

The sixth annual Quilt Show at the Belen Harvey House opens Saturday, Aug. 4 and continues through mid-September.

You'll be able to see dozens of beautifully made quilts exhibited by the New Mexico Quilters' Association Community Service Program and donated by members for distribution to community agencies.

Not only will you be able to see these quilts, you'll get a chance to see how they are made. Quilting programs will be featured every Saturday in August at 1:00 p.m.

August 4, demonstration by Sweet Charity Quilting group from Albuquerque;

August 11, Valencia Valley Girls demonstration and show and tell;

August 18, Hand Quilting group demonstration and show and tell;

August 25, Roundabout Quilts from Alamogordo Trunk Show and Demonstration.

The show is at the Belen Harvey House, a beautifully restored museum just off Reinken at 1st St and the Railroad. It will hang through Sept. 15. Museum hours are 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; Sunday 1-3 p.m. For information call 861-0581.
