IMAX Theater Hours of Operation Changing
Theater Closing on Mondays
Starting Monday, October 8, 2007, the Tombaugh IMAX Dome Theater will change its hours of operation. The theater will be open Tuesday through Sunday and will no longer be open on Mondays. Regular winter hours are in effect and films are shown hourly from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, with a late show and Star Talk on Friday and Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
The theater will be featuring three exciting IMAX films, including the return by popular demand of “Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon”. In part the work of narrator/producer/co-writer Tom Hanks, “Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon” allows moviegoers to experience walking on the moon alongside the extraordinary Apollo astronauts who stepped upon its surface. The film details the life-changing experience of the astronauts who walked on the moon by showcasing what these men saw, heard, felt, thought and did while on the lunar surface. (Astronaut Alan Shepard played golf on the moon and was able to hit the ball almost half a mile because of the lack of gravity.)
“Ride Around the World” reveals the amazing global journey of the cowboy - transporting viewers to exotic, rarely seen locations in Morocco, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Canada and the U.S to discover the 1,500-year-old horse and cattle culture as it spread from its earliest beginnings to every corner of the New World. “Ride Around the World” combines stunning cinematography with some of the most fantastic action footage ever seen on the IMAX® screen to create a profound visual experience that will thrill audiences of every nationality, while uniting them in a shared heritage.
MacGillivray Freeman Films (MFF), producers of Everest and the Academy Award®-nominated The Living Sea, uses exotic locations, current scientific research and heartfelt encounters between people and dolphins to present a rare and close-up view into the world of our favorite ocean animal. Filmed in the breathtaking giant-screen (IMAX®) format, narrated by international celebrity and ocean conservationist, Pierce Brosnan, and featuring songs and music from Grammy-winning artist Sting, Dolphins takes viewers on a rollicking adventure with wild dolphins and follows the story of a young woman, Kathleen Dudzinski, and her colleagues who have devoted their lives to studying dolphin behavior and communication.
