Johnson, Collections Manager in the Bird Division of the Museum of Southwestern Biology at the University of New Mexico, will present an overview of the high Andean hummingbird fauna, illustrated with slides, Oct. 18 at 7:15 at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, Albuquerque. [Credit where credit is due: Special thanks to Steppin' Out Member J Liddell for taking time to write and submit this article. We're certain Andy Johnson has photos to share with those who attend his presentation. However, since no images were submitted with this story, Steppin' Out did our own web research and found two informative articles that included information and images of Andean Hummingbirds. The photos featured here are the work of reknowned birdwatcher and South American bird expert, James Hecht. We encourage you to read the excellent articles we found on this topic written by Don Roberson (http://montereybay.com/creagrus/spatuletail.html) and Tom Davis (http://www.geometer.org/peru/index.html). Each of these articles feature Jim Hecht's stunning photos. To enjoy Andy Johnson's images of South American Hummingbirds, Steppin' Out readers should plan to attend his presentation on October 18th! ;) Readers can find more information about the Central New Mexico Audubon Society at their web site (http://www.peacocklaw.com/nmac/cnmas/).]
