Inching Closer To Success...

First, I want to say a heartfelt "Thank You!" to all of our loyal, generous, and in-all-ways supportive audiences. I’m always overwhelmed with gratitude at the continuing interest, attendance, and help that individuals, businesses, press, and public officials have shown to London Frontier in its ten (going on eleven) years in Magdalena. I realize how much we owe the community, and all of you, every time I prepare programs for a show: the list of "Special Thanks to...." and "Friends of the Theatre" has grown so long that we’ll soon need to add an extra page.
So I deeply regret announcing the cancellation of LEGENDS OF THE LOST FRONTIER, our scheduled production for May. I feel that we’re disappointing friends, going back on a "promise", but the decision was made in the interest of continuing theatre in the future.
As many of you know, we’re at a crossroads: purchase or perish. We’re in the process of buying our venue, Magdalena’s grand old WPA gym, which will give LFTC – at long last – a permanent home. We’ll also make it available for other performances, arts-&-crafts display, music, & meetings, creating a performance/arts center for the area.
London Frontier is eligible for/will receive $23,500 (35% of purchase price) in a USDA "Community Facilities"grant, dependent on LFTC raising the other 65% ($44,500, for total price of $68,000) by May 12 of this year. We have over $10,000 in private donations, and a promised – unfortunately, not payable until next year – $20,000 Kerr Foundation grant. So, with about six weeks to go, we must raise approximately $35,000 from grants, donations, and/or loans, all of which we’re now pursuing.
Modern theatre developed, in part, from the "Miracle Plays" of the Middle Ages, which were presented to strengthen Faith. We have faith that we’ll accomplish our goal, but we do need miracles – and we must now put all our effort and energy into doing our part to create them.
We thank you for your continued support, and for your understanding in this situation, and we’ll be back in flamboyant style with ENCHANTMENT! in July (8/9/10 & 15/16).
Keep checking our progress on our website, www.londonfrontiertheatre.com (http://www.londonfrontiertheatre.com/); you’ll find not only information on up-coming productions but – in Large Letters – the great news when we can finally say (re. the WPA gym) IT’S OURS! Or contact us by phone at (505) 854-2519, email at londonfrontier@gilanet.com.
Your comments, suggestions, and feed-back on our shows (or ideas for shows) are greatly appreciated. It’s your theatre, too.
