We didn't know who they were at first either.

The good news is you'll soon get a chance to remedy that knowledge deficiency. Amador's planned "Book Bash" will be held December 1 from 3 - 6pm, at the "Art is... OK & Company Gallery & Sculpture Plaza", which is located 3301 Menaul NE, Suite 28, ph. 883-7368. Best of all, the event is *Free*!

As it turns out, Amador is one of New Mexico's largest independent publishers and they will be hosting a book bash reception on December 1 that will feature their Authors, Artists, editors and illustrators. They have invited all New Mexico writers arstists and book lovers to attend. Needless to say, this party could just get mighty crowded...

According to our research, Amador specializes in fiction and biography of unique worth and appeal, outside the purview of mainstream publishing. The press is based in Albuquerque and began as a self-publishing venture when then aspiring author Harry Willson received a letter from a New York literary agent that read:

"This is fresh and new and heartfelt, and the world needs it, and I'm not going to do it."

So, who the heck needs New York anyway? Harry and his wife Adela Amador decided they didn't. So, they published "Duke City Tales' on their own. That proves beyond a doubt there's a masochist in every crowd. The book's release release was met with an unexpected flood of manuscripts from other aspiring authors. A few of those submissons were just too good to turn away.

As a result of that experience Amador Publishers was born. It provides a potential publishing venue for authors who are unable or unwilling to shoe-horn themselves into the the narrow slots assigned by big national presses and distributors. Amador has published more than 30 titles from over 15 authors since it started 20 years ago. All their books touch one way or another on humanist themes and principles important to Harry and Adela -- peace, equality, respect for all cultures and preservation of the Biosphere.

The complete line of Amador books will be on sale, with authors, editors and artists on hand to greet the public. Willson & Mckeee, “The Jigheads” will offer a concert of their unique 'Rocky Mountain Celtic' music and storytelling.

Willson & McKee are: Two Voices with Hammer Dulcimer, Mountain Dulcimer, Guitars, Irish Bouzouki, Bodhran, Celtic Harp, Accordion, Stories, and FUN! They call their music 'Rocky Mountain Celtic'… what Celtic becomes when it settles down comfortably in the west. They are Americans doing what they do best – interpreting their roots music in fresh and original ways. The combination of their Celtic heritage plus their Montana and Colorado roots gives them a uniquely original sound, unlike anything on the current soundscape. Do us a favor, please? That's the weekend before our next edition of Steppin' Out goes on the press. So, we're likely to be very busy around here. So, if you manage to get to the reception, please tell them Steppin' Out sent you and give them our best wishes too!
