2008 Italian Film Festival To Benefit UNM Children’s Hospital
More days, more films, more events, all to benefit the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital, the New Mexico Italian Film Festival will be back in Albuquerque February 10-17, 2008. “We were thrilled with the event, the response from the public, with the exposure the Children’s Hospital received and of course the financial support provided by the 2007 Italian Film Festival”, says UNM Hospital Executive Director for Development Hazel Tull-Leach.
In addition to outstanding film presentations, representing 60 years of Italian film-making, the 2008 Italian Film Festival will include events featuring Italian food, wine and special musical entertainment.
Events will take place at the KiMo Theater, Lobo Theater, Guild Cinema, Embassy Suites Hotel ballroom and other venues throughout Albuquerque
The 2008 Festival will present a series of “classic” Italian films, blended with more contemporary and brand new films never before seen in New Mexico. A rich Italian history of film-making will be on display, including old classics like The Bicycle Thief , Divorce Italian Style and The Garden of Finzi-Contisis. A line-up of 16 feature films will also include more contemporary movies such as Godfather II, Johnny Stecchino and Melana, all international award-winning films. The 2008 Italian Film Festival will have the honor to present some brand new films, which will be western United States premier showings. Mio fratello e figlio unico 2007 (My Brother Was An Only Child) and Nuovomundo 2007, presented by Martin Scorsese, is already a winner of nine international film awards, are two that will be new to Albuquerque film buffs and lovers of Italian culture.
